Servers, folders and threads

Channels and unread activity

Choose a server from the rail, then a channel from its sidebar. Threads appear under their parent channel with an L-shaped branch. Forum channels provide a place to browse posts and their conversations.

Unread markers sit inside the channel sidebar. Mention counts appear on rail icons and folders. Large counts use 99+; hover a count to see its full value. Muted channels and categories appear dimmer, while hovered, selected and mentioned items remain readable.

Use folders

Click a folder to expand or collapse it. An expanded folder keeps its servers together on a shared background. Folder opening and closing follow the reduced motion preference.

Rearrange servers

Drag a server or folder in the rail to rearrange it:

• Drop near an item's edge to place it before or after that item.
• Drop a server onto the middle of another server to create a folder.
• Drop a server into a folder to group it there.
• Drag a server outside a folder's group to take it out.
• Drag a folder to move the whole group.

Insertion and highlight feedback show the target. Pause over a closed folder while dragging to open it. Move toward a scrollable rail's edge to scroll. Press Escape to cancel a drag.

Allow an organization change to finish saving before starting another drag.

Threads and forum posts

Select a thread beneath its parent or open a forum post to read its conversation. Available creation and management actions depend on the channel and your access. Some management features are still incomplete; see Current capabilities.
